Need to Pump Your Septic Tank or Cesspool?
There seems to be a consensus that a septic tank should be pumped every 3-5 years depending on the number of occupants in the home. One of the key considerations is that the pipe from the tank to the leach field does not get blocked – the result of which would be to back-up your system. That does not sound fun!!
Unlike septic tanks, cesspools in West Hawaii usually do not need to be pumped because the island's porous, volcanic rock allows liquid waste to percolate into the ground. However, over time, debris that doesn't decay, like grease, sanitary wipes, and eggshells, can clog the ground's natural fissures, sealing them and impeding drainage. It's best to dispose of these items in the garbage instead of flushing them.
We recently had our system pumped by Elite Pumping Solutions – very professional and a positive experience. Also, a very shiny truck!!!
