The State of Hawaiʻi has introduced critical updates to the legal definition and framework governing farm dwellings within the State Land Use Agricultural District. The focus of the legislature has pivoted toward fixing the lack of affordable workforce housing for agricultural laborers while simultaneously creating a permanent escape hatch for the thousands of non-conforming residential lots historically trapped in agricultural zones. The Govenor has yet to sign the legislation, but is expected to do so - we'll have more details for you once signed.
